My 2010 Diary

Call me a copy cat. I don't mind at all. I saw my sister's blog and found her 2010 in pictures and think I should do mine.
There were not so much memorable things happen in my 2010 but I'm trying to count my blessings...

JANUARY

I didn't expect any celebration for my birthday, but my family woke me up to blow the candles. This explain why my boy still in pyjama :-)

FEBRUARY

My boy celebrated his birthday with his class-mates and teacher at his kindergarten!

And also got his birthday presents from his grandpa, uncles, aunty, cousins and he had a great fun with them..

February also became more special with my cousin's visit from Netherlands. We went to Sentosa and had local sight seeing.

My new nephew born in February. Welcome to this planet, dear!

Still in February, we went to the beach to pray for my mother in laws who left us a year ago to stay with God.

The last occasion in February is Chinese New Year.. My boy enjoyed receiving ang bao from relative

MARCH

My son and I enjoyed outing with friends from our Brisk Walking Club. We visit Singapore botanical garden.

And won a lucky draw

Due to financial matter, I have to improve myself in order to get a job. So I attended CRM course

APRIL

Still due to financial matter, Hubby wanted to rent out his 'second wife', a Mitsubishi Lancer, so we took it to a beautiful spot near our house and took a picture together (but at the end we still keep it until Nov 10)

I managed to get my first job after being a house wife for more than 6 years. 2 weeks later, I changed my job and I found the second love of my life.. $$$$

MAY

My cousin and my aunt came to visit us again

We had a lunch outing to celebrate my niece birthday

One morning on my way to the office I saw this and grab my camera that always ready in my bag

I had to post this photo of my boy who looks sooo handsome (at least to me). This picture was taken in our family outing to celebrate birthdays that actually in June but we celebrated earlier in May 2010

JUNE

JULY

Our friend from Malaysia came to visit us

AUGUST

Nothing happier than having my Mom. She visited us for a month in August

And we had another family dinner outing

SEPTEMBER
On moon cake festival.. everybody played with the lantern, I tried hard to take photo of my son with the moon!
Blame on my lousy camera and the model which can not stayed still.. (don't blame on me) I can only make this.. (so far away from my expectation.. I promised! next time will be better)

OCTOBER

NOVEMBER

Brian graduation - Good Bye Kindergarten..

My 6 years old son was bored during the holiday so he wrote an invitation letter and sent it out without telling me..

To prevent another invitation to be sent out, I took my boy out to enjoy shows during his scholl holiday

This time really had to say good bye to our Mitsubishi..

DECEMBER

CHRISTMAS on the air..
We went to town to see the Christmas light!

And my best Christmas present..

That is... My Mom.. She came again to visit us. This time she will stay longer.

I was a working woman before I married but I quit working after I gave birth to my son and enjoyed my days as a stay at home mom since then, even that's mean I didn't have money to spend and had to listen and follow all the instructions from my husband. What matters to me is I can see my son everyday, growing up from a little baby to a healthy smart boy.

But circumtances won't allow me to sit back watching my son all the time. I finally had to find a job since my husband is facing a financial problems.

I start working again after 6 years break. It's tough to separate with my boy, but what make it worse and worrying me is to see my son under other people's care. But there is nothing else I can do except crossing my fingers and hope God will take care my son so he will always healthy and happy, and will become a person with a good attitude, smart and wise.

I'm so blessed with a wonderful, healthy and smart boy who turned 6 today...
I'm so blessed with a wonderful, loving and caring family...
I'm so blessed with so many wonderful things in my life...

Now.. my younger sister, who is heavily pregnant, is waiting for the arrival of her second child. She is thinking to choose VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarian) but her doctor suggested a cesarian!

The only thing I can do is crossing my fingers! Asking for another blessing from God...

Travel to the Past

My son asking me to play a ball.. After playing for awhile, I told him that I am very tired because I am too old to run around cacthing the ball. And he replied to me, "I wish you were only 20 when you gave birth to me, so you are still young enough to play a ball with me!"

So, when my friend, Mary, hosting a challenge in SBF call "Extraction Fun", I got the idea to play with the photo of my son that was taken in 2006, extracted him and put it into my photo that was taken much earlier (in 1992, or 12 years before my son's born). And I call it "Travel to the Past"

How I wish in reality we could travel to the past, to avoid the unhappiness and enjoy again the things that we can only call it sweet memory!

This past few weeks I was so worry about my high blood pressure. I was so sure that I am a healthy person and took my health for granted until my doctor said my blood pressure is high!

I changed my life style.. No more sleep at late midnight or past midnight; and always wake up in the morning to do the exercise. I have to reduce my time for TV and computer. It's really hard especially reducing time for scrapping. But I am trying!

Sometime I feel that my boy is still a baby.. Can't believe that he is growing up so fast and now is a smart little boy that often surprised me with his thinking..
Just like when he was one day come to me and ask
B: "Mom, which country has 4 seasons? (because we are staying in Singapore and we don't have spring, summer, winter and autumn).. I really wants to play with snow, but can't go to the countries which are far away from Singapore because the air ticket is expensive."
M: (laugh and also surprised that a 5 years old boy can understand about that).. "Likely the nearest place that has snow and also not so expensive to go is China.."
B: (With full of enthusiasm)... "China? Wow.. I really want to go to China.. People there are very busy and they are working hard"
M: Why did you said so?
B: I read 'made in China' label in almost all of my toys, stationery, shirts and other things! So they must be very busy to make all of those things!
M: (got another surprised and just can laugh..)

Together - Family - Forever

One year ago, 3 August 2008, my father passed away. Being sentimental, I spent the day looking at old photos. It's really sad that I don't have much photo of my Dad, and only couple of family photos with complete family members since (as far as I remember) we only get together for two times; the first time was in 1988 and the second time was in my sister's wedding day in March 1994.

Recently I got email from my old friend who lives in Japan. She is a kind lady and we still keep in touch even sometime only by writing to each other once a year (sending new year's card). All communication were done through telephone and traditional mail because she didn't have internet connection at home.

But this time, she said she can use internet and I'm so happy for that. I really miss the old time we spent together. I can say that she was my first best friend I met after I arrived in Japan for studying in 1992. My one year scholarship in Japan gave me a lot of memories and wonderful experiences.. I lost contact with many of my friends back then.. Just wish I could keep in touch with them again..

My Little Prince

It's really hard to get a good photo of my boy. He's either make a silly pose with silly faces or just covering his face when I take my camera. But in his uncle wedding party, he's kind enough to pose with me and had our photo taken.

Time is Flying

Oh Gosh.. It seems just few days ago I wrote and posted scap page in my blog. But it was almost a month ago. Time is really flying.. I was happily celebrating CNY with my 2 mothers (Mom and MIL).. but a week later, my MIL's health was deteriorating.. After felt so much painful, she finally lost in the battle with her cancer. It made me losing someone again and the feel was (and is still) awful .. But I should say thank you to some of my friends for their sympathy messages send to me.. I really appreciate it.

I am always slow and tried to avoid doing more things.. or in a another perspective word it is called 'lazy'.. But this case reminds me that life is so short and unpredictable. Time will not wait for you. Just do whatever you want to do.. So I hope I will do something useful... soon.. and I hope I don't need another reminder to wake me up...

I am lucky that Chinese people celebrate their new year up to 15 days. Otherwise, it's too late for me now to say "GONG XI FA CAI" (a traditional Chinese new year's greeting or blessing, roughly translated, "Congratulations and be prosperous.")
Chinese people believe that oranges bring good luck at New Year. That's why in Singapore (and some other countries); people will bring oranges when visiting family/relatives or friends in Chinese New Year..

I am dreaming of a white Christmas

Everywhere I go now I see Christmas tree with all the Christmas accessories.. Feel so warm in heart.. (even I don't like the fact that I also feel warm for the weather too)

How I wish there is snow falling down here so I can feel the real 'White Christmas'.. But it will never happen since I live in tropical country.

Anyway, I love Christmas.. no matter it is white, blue, green or red.. Just love it!

Being a Photographer

Last weekend, we went to the beach and stayed in the resort to celebrate birthday of my husband's nephew. We were having a good time. The scenery was really beautiful and I wanted to take picture of my son. I took him a long the beach and tried to take some shots. What a pity, my son kept running or doing some silly pose or showed silly faces whenever I asked him to stay still.

My hobby is taking photo and I dream I can become a famous photographer one day.. But now I understand that being a photographer is not easy at all..

Career Woman V.S. House Wife

I think I am not a good blogger. I haven't posted or written anything for quite a while. I am in a deep thought about whether I should go to work and being a career woman or just being a housewife. Of course both have good and bad things. ohh.. what a troublesome...

Well.. during this few days, I was trying to update my CV and looking for some job vacancies.. Oh, gosh.. looking at it, I am wondering people will hire me... I quit my last job 5 years ago and become a full time house wife. So, "what have I done this 5 years??"

And until now.. the worries still continuing...

Today is my nephew's birthday! Brian is busy planning how to celebrate his cousin's birthday. He doesn't realize that his cousin live far away from his house that it takes 5 hours flight from here. Without holiday and most of all, without money ^-^ how can we go there??

Happy Halloween!!!

This morning when I was preparing breakfast for my son before he goes to school, he asked me:

Brian: Mom, do I have to go to school today?

Me: Yes, of course.

Brian: But today is halloween.. we should prepare some pumpkin, candies and wear halloween costum instead of this school uniform.

Me: Is it? How do you know that today is halloween?? (We don't celebrate halloween here in our country)

Brian: Today is October 31, 2008. It's halloween day!!! I suppose to go to knock people's doors and said "trick or treat".. then I can collect many candies. I hope I got lollipops too!

Me: You never do that before.. how do you know about it?..

Brian: I saw it on TV, Mom! Come on.. go prepare the pumpkin...

Well... Finally I can only promised him that tonight I will prepare the candies (with lollipops).. I have no idea how to prepare the pumpkin.

How would you feel when you win on something and received a reward? Yeah.. HAPPY of course. I'm sooo happy that I finally won and got a reward. I can't recall when was the last time I have rewarded on winning something. But now, thanks to SBF, I won a framed print for my scrap page 'Brian - My Superhero'.
